Overview

Students in a large introductory math course had a learning platform and an adaptive homework system, but few places to see worked steps, practice interactively, or find out what an exam would actually cover. I built a companion site for the course’s online and on-ground sections. It covers seven topics with mini lessons, step-by-step review questions, discussion-assignment walkthroughs, interactive tools and a video library.

What I built

  • 74 step-by-step review questions with 271 practice problems, plus exam-review pages that map each exam question to practice.
  • A video library of 174 entries, 144 of them published, all produced with my Orbital pipeline.
  • A redesigned phone experience. The homepage went from 6 screens of scrolling to 2, the video library from 71 to about 5, and assignment pages from about 18 to 8.
  • Automated layout checks. Every page is loaded at phone, tablet and laptop sizes in a headless browser, and layout breakage is flagged before deployment.
  • A clean architecture. I refactored a 50,000-line file into a 2,100-line reusable engine plus a separate course content package, and verified the refactor by comparing all 292 pages byte for byte.
  • Private by design. No accounts and no student data: progress is stored only on the student’s own device.

How it was built

Designed and written by me with AI assistance (Claude) for development, over 471 commits since April 2026.
